Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to all our students and families! We have had a great start to the term and the move into the new Admin office space went very smoothly due to the assistance of our amazing Classroom Support Assistants. The old Admin office will be gutted at the end of this week in preparation for the new teacher workspace and new staff toilets. There has been a delay with the new classrooms but all going to plan, we are envisaging the Infants students should be in their new classrooms by the end of Week 4 or early Week 5. Please check the newsletter and Facebook for updates.
Last week we welcomed Ms Amy Doszpot as our new Assistant Principal. Amy has many years of experience as a classroom teacher and in various leadership roles. She is enjoying her new school and having the children for sport and is looking forward to meeting you all in the coming weeks.
Monday, Years 3 and 4 went on an excursion to Canberra. The children had a fantastic time and experienced a range of educational activities. They went to Questacon and the Art Gallery. Following this the children played in the Sculpture Gardens near the Art Gallery for a brief period of time before heading back to school. Congratulations to all the students who were a credit to St Bede’s school and their parents and a very special thank you to Mrs Jennie Marsh and Ms Jade Crispin for all their organisation and Mrs Taureta Dodds for assisting and helping on the day.
Tuesday, we had our first Kinder Orientation session. After a few tears, the children were very settled and they all had a great time. It was wonderful to greet some new families as well as some existing families. We look forward to seeing them all back here for their next session on Tuesday, October 31 from 9 am to 12pm.
We have had several new babies born this year. Congratulations to the Dowling family on the recent arrival of Jack and the Raynolds family on the arrival of Olive, and the Coleman family and Bell families on the arrival of Ivy and Jack, a few months ago.
Plans for the colour run on Friday November 17 are well in place. Information about this was sent home to all families last Friday. Many of our students are well on the way with their fundraising with over $1000 already raised to support the purchases of the new IT in our school. There will be incentives each week for the money raised so please check the newsletter and FaceBook for information. Well done everyone and the fundraising committee on your amazing organisation.
The next Community Council meeting is an Open meeting on Wednesday November 8 from 5:30pm to 6:15pm. The agenda is for our parents to come and view the new front office and classrooms and see the new devices purchased from fundraising this year. The Community Council will provide wine and nibblies. Please RSVP to the front office by Monday November 6. Following the Open Meeting, the Community Council will commence their formal council meeting.
The 2024 Year 5/6 Camp has been booked at Berry Sport and Recreation Centre for 6-8 November. At present, we are unable to provide a costing for the camp as it is over 12 months away. We will aim to confirm the cost in Term 2, 2024.
God Bless
Marylou,
Principal, St Bede's School
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Term 4, 2023. The year has flown by, and with the busyness of Term 4, we will be at the end in no time.
We have a lot of events organised for this term and end of year celebrations occurring. Please keep an eye on the calendar and Facebook page to ensure you are kept up to date with all of the 'happenings' at St Bede's.
Last term we fundraised money for Fr Mick's Timor L'Este project. We raised approximately $200 that will be donated to his project in recognition of the work he has done for the Braidwood parish over the last few years. A small gift and card has also been passed on to Fr Mick from the St Bede's staff and students.
There will be no weekday Masses for the foreseeable future. Fr Tony Percy and Joshua Scott from Queanbeyan have kindly offered to visit the school once a month and will say Mass on Saturday evenings. We are very grateful for all they are able to offer the school and St Bede's parish community.
This Saturday our Year 3 students will participate in the first of 4 sessions that will prepare them for receiving the sacrament of First Eucharist on Saturday 19 November. We ask you to keep these students in your thoughts and prayers over the coming weeks.
This week, we feature a prayer from the St Bede's Braidwood Parish Prayer Book, written by Fred, a previous St Bede's student who was in Year 2 at the time. Sadly, its content is still relevant today as we pray for peace in our world, particularly given the events occurring in the Holy Land affecting the people of Palestine and Israel.
Dear Lord,
Please stop the wars all around the world and bring peace.
I'm sorry there are wars happening all over the world.
There is a heap of violence and people dying.
Amen
Yours in faith,
Bridget Bradley

We are asking parents not to pay their school fees through the Compass portal due to the fees are charged for larger amounts - rather BPAY is the preferred system for school fees payments.
Term 3 School fees are overdue for payment.
If you haven't yet paid your fees, please do so immediately or contact the office to put a plan in place. term 4 Fees will be sent out this week
If you are paying by BPAY, please ensure you are using the new BPAY numbers. These details are found on the top right and bottom left of the emailed statements.
- The St Bede’s Community Council and Fundraising Committee are holding another Bunnings Sausage Sizzle in Batemans Bay NSW on Sunday 29th October 9am-4pm. We hope you can come along and support us! We need some volunteers to help with cooking and serving on the day. If you could assist, please contact Millie Di Miao on 0401 638 017. We are looking for volunteers for the following time slots: 10-12pm, 12-2pm and 2-4pm. We are also looking for a couple of large eskies to borrow and use on the day.

On Friday 17th of November St Bede's will be hosting our very own Colour Blast Fun Run!
Parents please note: St Bede's is a Nut Free school and as such the sharing of any food, lollies or confectionery is not encouraged, as we have several students that have severe reactions. Therefore Nutella, Peanut Butter and any other nut butters or nut products are strongly discouraged.
For canteen to run at St Bede's we need at least two parent helpers for each week on the roster. If we do not have two volunteers then we are unable to have canteen and it will be cancelled for that week. Please refer to the below roster.
If canteen is cancelled then your child will need to bring their own lunch, as per a non canteen day. Please note that if canteen is cancelled and your child has an order, parents/carers will be contacted to provide lunch.
Any parents that are available to help canteen and have a couple of hours available on a Monday morning (Please see the roster for coming dates) please email the office.
If you have any questions about what is required to help on canteen please contact Brenda on 0438 275 032 or Trish on 0412 889507 or 02 48422027.
Please note that any parents volunteering for canteen must have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC). WWCC can be applied for through Service NSW (link) applying for a WWCC. Once you have received the clearance please send a copy of the email + your date of birth to the office as the clearances are checked.
