Dear Parents and Carers,
As we reach the end of Term 3, it’s hard to believe how quickly the time has flown! It has been a wonderfully busy term, filled with amazing learning experiences in every classroom. I’m sure both students and staff are eagerly anticipating a well-deserved break. I hope the holidays bring a welcome change of pace for your families!
Walkathon Postponed
Unfortunately we have made the difficult decision to postpone our much-anticipated Walkathon. Tomorrows weather forecast, while dry is looking cold, damp and windy. We have rescheduled the event to Wednesday 23 October (Week 2).
Behind every event, there is a great deal of unseen work. A huge thank you to Kristi Morrison, Sarah Hickey, and Rachel Farley for their amazing efforts in organising this event. Thank you to all families, friends, and the wider community for your generous donations. The big question remains: will I be slimed or not?
Further updates regarding the Walkathon will be provided next term.
Staffing News
We would like to inform the school community that Sarah Jebb, our Year 1 teacher, has made the decision to resign from her position at St Bede’s. We thank Sarah for her commitment and contributions over the past 18 months. I would also like to extend our thanks to Mr Bob Fletcher, who is stepping in to teach Year 1 for four days a week starting in Term 4. Further details regarding staffing will be shared with Year 1 parents during the holidays.
School Disco
Get ready to kick off Term 4 with a bang! On Friday, 18 October (Week 1), we will be hosting a school disco.
- Kinder to Year 2 students will dance the night away from 5:00 until 6pm
- All students will be treated to a sausage sizzle from 6:00 – 6:30pm
- Year 3 to Year 6 will join the disco action from 6:30 – 7:30pm
Parents are not required to stay for the disco, but children will need to be dropped off and collected at their allocated times.
The cost is $10 per child (includes sausage sizzle, drink, zooper dooper, glow stick), and we ask that you RSVP with payment by Tuesday 15 October.
While the children are dancing the night away, why not put your hands to work! We’re holding our Term 4 Working Bee on the same evening and would greatly appreciate any help. As the saying goes, “Many hands make light work!” Please indicate on the RSVP if you’re available to assist.
Winning House
A big congratulations to Red House for earning the most house points this term! The competition was incredibly close, reflecting the outstanding school spirit of all our students.
Red House - 1877 points
Blue House - 1842 points
Yellow House -1711 points
Due to the wet and gloomy weather, we have decided to postpone the winning house reward—which includes free dress, Zooper Doopers, and park play until next term. We can’t wait to celebrate Red House’s achievement under sunnier skies!
Thank you for a fantastic term, and we look forward to welcoming all students back to school on Tuesday, 15 October.
Wishing you all a relaxing and enjoyable break.
Kind regards,
Amy Doszpot
Assistant Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
Sacramental Program
As previously mentioned, the Sacramental Program for Confirmation was postponed until next term. We are still in the process of confirming a new date with the Priest and Archbishop. More information will be shared with families once a new date is set.
Socktember
Yesterday, we celebrated Socktember at St Bede’s. Students were invited to wear crazy socks for a gold coin donation to Catholic Mission. It was great to see so many different socks! Students enjoyed ‘rocking their socks off’ at our disco party during break times. Thank you to all the families that supported this cause, we managed to raise $167.50. A special mention to our Year 5 & 6 leaders for their organisation of the ‘rock your socks off’ disco party.

St Bede's is a Nut Free school
This includes Nutella and unfortunately we have found sandwiches with Nutella.
Please beware that this is placing some of our students at great risk.
St Bede's is a nut free school - This mean that students should not bring anything containing nuts to school, this includes Nutella, Peanut Butter and any other nut butters as we have several students who are highly allergic to these items.
The sharing of any food, lollies or confectionery is not encouraged.
- School fees for Term 3 are now overdue for payment. Reminders and debt letters have gone out to parents, if you received a letter or reminder email please ensure that the fees are paid promptly. Families are reminded that fees need to be paid by the due date unless you have made arrangements with the office or Mrs Gorham.
- Please remember to contact the office before 2:30 pm with changes to your child's departure for the afternoon. After 2:30 it becomes difficult for staff to ensure that your child receives notification in time.
- If your child is unwell, please place their absence through the Compass Parent Portal App. There is no need to then notify the office once you have placed it into the Compass app.
- Please keep an eye on ourFaceBook page for the latest happenings around the school. St Bede'sFaceBook page
Unwell Students (Cough, runny nose, fever, vomiting etc.) If your child is unwell please keep them at home. If your child has vomited the night before, please keep them at home, even if you think they are okay. The NSW Health guidelines suggest that students who have vomited should be kept at home for 48 hours to help prevent the spread of illness through the school. Please see the guideline from NSW Health regarding vomiting. https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/factsheets/Factsheets/viral-gastroenteritis.pdf
Our School Counsellor, Faith, will be visiting St Bede's on Wednesdays this year. Please see the below information regarding the service and how to make an appointment.
How to make an appointment.
If your child was seen by the school counsellor in previous years and you would like them to receive support in 2024, we require you to complete a new counselling registration form. The link can be found below. New referrals and requests can be made via the same link.
Parent consent for counselling continues to be required for all primary school students and will be sought and provided via email. Where parents are separated, we require the written consent of both parents. Once the referral has been received, I will contact parents on a Wednesday to further discuss the referral and determine whether school counselling can meet your child’s needs or if an external referral may be more appropriate.
Referrals can be submitted here https://mccg.my.site.com/housing/s/school-referral-form
Faith Costigan – Student and Family Counsellor.

To promote a healthy and active lifestyle, our fundraising efforts for Term 3 include a 5k walk around Braidwood Recreation Ground. Students are asked to raise money in the form of ‘pledges’ for the total walk. Whole School incentives are being offered as students work towards our total fundraising target of $5,000.
As an individual incentive, for every $5.00 raised, students will receive a ticket in our major raffle draw of prizes.
We are excited to announce APEX will dollar match every donation up to a total of $2,500 raised! Students will receive double the raffle tickets for their funds raised when dollar matched by APEX. Thank you, APEX!
Braidwood Lions Club have sponsored a BBQ lunch, juice popper and fruit to enjoy at the Walk-a-thon! Thank you, Braidwood Lions!
Every child who walks earns an additional raffle ticket in the prize draw. There will be a major prize for the child who raises the most money, followed by many prizes in the major prize draw.
Prizes have been generously donated by Questacon, Braidwood Bakery, Flip Out, Anaconda, Leading Lights, Trek Bicycle Store, Intersport Fyshwick and the Community Council. Thank you to our supporters!
All money raised goes towards our new much needed Infants playground.
