The staff of St Bede's would like to wish a Happy Mother's Day to all Mothers, Grandmothers and Mother like figures.
May your day be restful and filled with love and joy.
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to all our students, staff and families. It was wonderful to see everyone back at school last week ready for a busy term of learning. We look forward to seeing our families at school and at various events throughout the term.
During the holidays, many of our students and staff participated in the ANZAC march in Braidwood. Congratulations to Cara L and Sam P, our Prime Ministers, who did a reading during the ceremony and thank you to Trish Young for donating the wreath. Last Thursday, our school reflected on the significance of ANZAC day with a very moving prayer reflection presented by Jade Crispin and Year 3.
Last Friday, St Bede’s hosted the Northern Regions Cross Country Carnival. All our children who competed tried their best with Tom E and Charlie H being selected for the Archdiocesan Carnival. A huge thank you to Katie Tooth, our Sports Co-ordinator, for her impeccable organisation of the carnival and our many parent volunteers who assisted either in the canteen or as officials. A special thank you to our parents who transported equipment to and from the showground, prepared the grounds or provided the yummy home baked soups and treats on the day!
As communicated via email on Monday, NSW Health Safe Wayz program is going to provide a Parental Information Session on Thursday 15th May 2025 at 5:30pm. This will be held here at St Bede’s. Please email your attendance to amy.doszpot@cg.catholic.edu
Safe Wayz aims to
- prevent harmful sexual behaviours from occurring.
- intervene early when sexualised behaviours first emerge.
- help children understand and address the behaviours in safe and supportive ways.
- identifying sexualised behaviours and seeking help early can prevent further harm, both for the child engaging in the behaviours and other children who may be impacted. Early support can help improve a child's outcomes. With support, almost all children resolve these behaviours.
The design of the Safe Wayz program follows recommendations of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. It takes a public health approach: preventing harmful sexual behaviours occurring, intervening early when sexualised behaviours first emerge, and enabling children with harmful sexual behaviours to access assessment and counselling.
Each year during the month of May, we commence our enrolment period. Open day tours will be conducted by our school leaders next Tuesday from 9:30am to 11am and from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. If you know of any students who are turning 5 by July 31, 2026, and/or interested in enrolling at St Bede’s in other year levels, please encourage them to come along to an open day session or to contact the school to arrange a tour.
Today I attended the Veolia Mulwaree Trust Grants presentation at Goulburn, with Rachel Farley and Kristi Morrison, to receive a grant of $45,000 towards our new Infants Playground. We thank Rachel for applying for the grant and Kristi for her assistance. Plans are well underway to have our new equipment installed. The designs have been submitted-so watch this space for more information!
Happy Mother’s Day to all our beautiful mothers, grandmothers and special persons in our lives. In appreciation of our mothers, we will be hosting our Mother’s Day breakfast tomorrow. There will be egg and bacon rolls available and refreshments. This will be followed by a liturgy prepared by Kinder and Year 6. We hope to see you there!
We will also be holding our Mother's Day Stall tomorrow at 2pm. Gifts are $6 and payment can be made via Qkr!
Have a great week!
God bless

Qkr! Canteen Update
We ran our first canteen day using Qkr! on Monday—it was a great success! Thank you for your support as we get the system up and running. I apologise that ice-creams were accidentally left off the menu, but don’t worry—they’ve now been added for future orders (no more disappointed little people).
Click here for the Qkr! Tip of the Week for instructions on how to cancel an order if your child is absent on Canteen day.
Student Absences
Schools are legally required to receive notification from parents/carers for any absence from school. Please ensure absences are recorded on Compass, ideally on the day of the absence or as soon as possible.
Have a wonderful end to the week and Happy Mother's Day to all of the special women in our community!
Kind regards,
Amy Doszpot
Assistant Principal
It has been a busy start to Term 2! There is always lots happening the RE space.
Pope Francis – May he rest in peace
Firstly, we acknowledge the sad passing of Pope Francis on Easter Monday, aged 88. Pope Francis was an inspirational leader in the Catholic Church. May we remember his good works and his dedication to his faith. We pray for our Catholic Church leaders as they sit in the conclave to decide our next Pope.
Term 2 Liturgies
Last week, St Bede’s gathered on Wednesday to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus with a liturgy led by Kindergarten. We are very proud of our students for their beautiful retelling and singing. St Bede’s gathered again on Thursday for an ANZAC Day Liturgy led by Year 3. We thank Year 3 for their reverent prayer celebration to remember all service men and women, past and present. We thank them for their sacrifice. A big thank you to the families who attended these events.
CSYMI ‘Journey with Jesus’ Retreat
On Monday, Year 5 and 6 participated in a ‘Journey with Jesus’ retreat at school. The day was led by Mr Luke Maher from Catholic Education. The day was a high-impact student formation experience that dove into core concepts of the Catholic Faith and invited the students into a personal response. The retreat was based on the underlying Gospel message of love, salvation, and forgiveness. The CSYMI program is curriculum aligned and is currently being rolled out in most CE schools in our Archdiocese. The response from students was extremely positive.
Sacramental Program
Our Sacramental Program begins this week. We have 11 Year 3 students participating in Reconciliation. They will participate in 4 preparation sessions, held on a Thursday afternoon from 3:15-4:15pm in the Library. They will receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Saturday 31 May at the 5pm Mass. We are thankful to Mrs Sue Anderson for preparing the students this year. Please keep these students in your prayers.
Mother’s Day Celebrations
This week, we celebrate Mother’s Day as a school. The staff will be cooking a breakfast of bacon and egg rolls, with tea and coffee available, from 8:15 am on Friday 9 May. Following this, mothers, grandmothers and special motherly figures will be celebrated in a prayer liturgy in the Hall at 9 am. This will be led by Kinder and Year 6. We hope to see you there!
St Bede’s Parish Children’s Mass – This Saturday 10 May
The St Bede's Parish is holding a Children's Mass on Saturday 10 May at 5pm. It will be to celebrate our blessed mother, Mary and Mother's Day. Our first Children's Mass was a great success last term. We thank our families for coming along and participating in such large numbers and would love to see you all again.
We would like to hear from you if your child/ren are interested in volunteering to be a reader - First Reading, Second Reading, Prayers of the Faithful. All readings will be provided in advance to practise. We are also looking for volunteers to be Altar Servers - open to both boys and girls who have made their First Communion. Training and mentoring will be provided. All children will be invited to take part in the Offertory Procession and to sing with the guitars for the Communion and Recessional Hymns. There will also be a Children's Liturgy session in the front porch while Father delivers the Gospel and Homily.
Please contact Miss Cooper (shaye.cooper@cg.catholic.edu.au) or Mrs Ann Tracey (0450 680 337) ASAP if your child/ren would like to volunteer for any of these roles.

St Bede’s Feast Day
The Feast Day of our school saint – St Bede – is recognised on the 25th May. The school will celebrate St Bede’s Feast Day with a prayer liturgy on Thursday 22 May. This will be held at the St Bede’s Church at 10:15am. Each year, a student from each year level receives a ‘St Bede’s Award’. This award recognises students who demonstrate Christian leadership and dedication to their studies – much like St Bede did. The awards will be presented at our St Bede’s Feast Day Liturgy. Stay tuned for more information!
Yours in faith,

Greetings from the School Counsellor
Important information about how to access School Counselling.
Please feel free to touch base with any questions or concerns relating to the counselling service.
How to make an appointment.
If your child/ren were seen by the school counsellor in previous years and you would like them to receive support in 2025, we require you to complete a new counselling registration form. The link can be found below. New referrals and requests can be made via the same link.
Parent consent for counselling continues to be required for all primary school students and will be sought and provided via email. Where parents are separated, we require the written consent of both parents. Once the referral has been received, I will contact parents on a Wednesday to further discuss the referral and determine whether school counselling can meet your child’s needs or if an external referral may be more appropriate.
Referrals can be submitted here
https://mccg.my.site.com/housing/s/school-referral-form
I am at St. Bede’s on Wednesdays each week of term.
Faith Costigan – Student and Family Counsellor.

Northern Region Cross Country
St Bede’s proudly hosted the Northern Region Cross Country Carnival at the Braidwood Showground last Friday. Around 250 students, along with their parents and families from across the region, attended the event. The perfect weather allowed for a fantastic day of competition. Congratulations to all the students who gave their best efforts and showed great sportsmanship by cheering each other on!
Thank you to the army of volunteer parents who assisted on the day, both in the canteen and on the course, as well as Miss Cooper, Ms Conroy and Ms Moran. We certainly cannot run such an event without your wonderful support. A special thank you to Ruby Green, Fiona Noye and Richard Bunn for their incredible efforts in coordinating and managing the canteen - a massive job catering for approximately 400 people!
Congratulations to Thomas (Year 3) who placed 3rd in the 9 years boys and Charlie (Year 5) who placed 5th in the 11 years boys events. They will now travel to Stromlo next Friday 16th May to compete in the Archdiocesan championships. Good luck boys!
Interschools Snowsports Championships
After a hugely successful competition last year, St Bede’s will once again send a team to the ACT/Southern NSW Snowsports Championships in Perisher in July. Students can enter in either skiing or snowboarding across a number of disciplines. If you would like further information, please contact Mrs Tooth at school, or click on the link:
https://www.interschools.com.au/home-nsw-act-qld-sa/act-southern-nsw-champs
An information session will be held at school in the coming weeks, so please keep a look out for details!
Next week is National Road Safety Week, running from 11-18 May. This is an annual initiative from the Safer Australian Roads and Highways Group which highlights the impact of road trauma and ways to reduce it. Parents, families and children are reminded to promote safe behaviour around schools. This week’s focus for road safety is on holding your child’s hand:
Footy Tipping
This year’s competition is wide open after the first 9 rounds with only a handful of points between first and last, and many lead changes so far! The leaderboard after 9 rounds is:
1st: TopDog02 - 42 points
2nd: Louise Halligan - 41 points
3rd: Mr Chifley - 41 points
- Parents are reminded to check that their child's name is on all their clothing - it is impossible to return clothes with no name.
- The school has a 2nd hand uniform pool. If you would like any uniform items please call into the office to complete an order form or alternatively email the office with your order. You will be contacted once the order has been filled. Please note that as the uniform pool relies on donations from parents, we do not have a full range of items or sizes. Any families who have uniforms that they no longer need, please consider donating these back to the school, these can be left at the office. Thank you
- Len Mutton and Co are the schools official uniform supplier. They are located in the main street or phone 0248422446 or email lenmutton@bigpond.com
- Please be mindful of what containers you send to school with your child. Please do not send ring pull cans (like the lids on small tuna cans etc.) or glass containers as these present a cutting hazard to children. Please open the can at home and place in a plastic container.
- We would ask that soft drinks are not sent to school with your children as we do try to encourage a healthy alternative like water.
- If your child is unwell, please place their absence through the Compass Parent Portal App. There is no need to then notify the office once you have placed it into the Compass app.
- Please keep an eye on ourFaceBook page for the latest happenings around the school. StBede'sFaceBook page
St Bede's is a Nut Free school
St Bede's is a nut free school - This mean that students should not bring anything containing nuts to school, this includes Nutella, Peanut Butter and any other nut butters as we have several students who are highly allergic to these items.
The sharing of any food, lollies or confectionery is not encouraged.
Any families who are struggling to pay their fees are asked to contact the office to put arrangements in place.
Please note that the preferred method of payment for fees is through BPAY as it is cost effective. The BPAY reference details are in the top right and bottom left on the invoice.
Healthy Lunchbox Nutrition Snippets
At St Bede's canteen is run every 2nd Monday. The running of canteen is dependant on volunteers - we require at least 2 parent volunteers per canteen.
Please see the roster below - if you are able to help please contact Brenda, Trish or the office to have your name added.
If canteen is cancelled your child will need to bring their own lunch, as per a non canteen day.
If you have any questions about what is required to help on canteen please contact Brenda on 0438 275 032 or Trish on 0412 889507 or 02 48422027.
Please note that any parents volunteering for canteen must have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC). WWCC can be applied for through Service NSW (link) applying for a WWCC. Once you have received the clearance please send a copy of the email + your date of birth to the office as the clearances are checked.
