Dear Parents and Carers,
Teachers have been busy preparing information and analysing assessments and data in preparation for reporting. Reports will be sent home to all parents and carers on Monday of Week 10. St Bede’s are consistent with all CECG schools with the reporting process.
Catholic Education Canberra-Goulburn has advised schools that general comments will not be required on Semester 1, 2025 reports, but to prioritise Parent/Teacher Conferences for every family. These meetings will be conducted at St Bede’s during Week 9 this term from June 23 until June 26 and information will be provided in the next few weeks regarding dates and times so, please look out for this. The Parent/Teacher meetings provide an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, their strengths, challenges and future areas of focus. A Semester Report will be sent home as in previous Semesters, providing A-E grading, work habits and attendance information, on Monday Week 10.
CE has advised schools that Semester 2, 2025 reports will have a general comment for all children as in previous years. This general comment will provide a summative comment for the year, areas of achievement and areas to focus on for the following year. A-E grading, work habits and attendance information will remain as normal.
We encourage all parents/carers to engage regularly with their child/ren’s learning, connecting with their class teacher regularly to discuss learning progress.
Last Thursday evening Amelia from NSW Health Safewayz presented a parent information session which provided parents with general information on problematic and harmful sexualised behaviours (PHSB). She provided information on how parents can respond and best practice in managing PHSB at home and school. We thank Amelia for travelling to St Bede’s from the coast to present the session and Ms Doszpot for her organisation. Please see information in the AP section of the Newsletter regarding a follow up session.
Today, we celebrated St Bede’s day. Thank you to everyone who joined us for our special celebration. A student from each Year level was chosen to receive an award in acknowledgement of their application and engagement with their learning. We congratulate all our award winners and thank Ms Cooper for her organisation of the mass and Father Sijo Jose for celebrating the mass and Trish Young for providing the patty cakes for the students and the staff and parishioners for the morning tea.
Next week we will be celebrating Reconciliation Week. The theme this year is “Bridging Now to Next’’. The children will be participating in a range of activities in their class groups that are culturally respectful and faith-aligned. We thank Ms Millsom, our Aboriginal Contact Teacher for preparing the activities for each class.
Have a great week!
God bless

Safe Wayz Follow-Up Session
As Cath Sherwin, Child Protection Officer from Catholic Education, was unable to attend our Safe Wayz presentation last week, we will be holding a short follow-up session via Microsoft Teams on Thursday 29 May at 12:00pm.
During this session, Cath will share information about the processes and supports Catholic Education provides in response to problematic and harmful sexualised behaviours.
The meeting will run for approximately 15–20 minutes and will be recorded. If you are unable to attend live, the recording can be shared upon request.
A link to the meeting will be sent via Compass next Wednesday.
Donate a Lunch - Deliver a Smile
This initiative was launched on Monday. In the Hot Food section of the Canteen Menu you will find the option to donate a lunch to a child in our school community. Together we can share kindness - one lunch at a time.

Thank you to all the families and parishioners who joined us in this celebration. A big thank you to Fr Sijo for celebrating Mass at school with us. We also thank Trish Young for baking 166 cupcakes and the staff who provided morning tea.

Dear God,
I know you are with me and love me.
God of mercy, you inspired St Bede with the love of education. Help me to learn by the example of St Bede and be enlightened by your wisdom.
May our school year be full of wonderful learning opportunities that help prepare us for life beyond school.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
All students should now be in full winter uniform.
At St Bede's we are very proud of our students uniform, it is what identifies us within the community of Braidwood, and it is important that the uniform is worn correctly. This includes all students wearing ties, black shoes, hats or navy/black beanies, long sleeved shirts, blue trousers or tunic. Students wearing the winter tunic should be wearing navy blue tights. Winter jackets need to be navy blue. There should be no variation on the school's uniform - the uniform policy can be downloaded via the attached link or copies of the uniform policy can be found in the school office.
Also a reminder that all uniform items should have your child's name, this make it easier to return lost items to the correct owner.
- Parents are reminded to check that their child's name is on all their clothing - it is impossible to return clothes with no name.
- The school has a 2nd hand uniform pool. If you would like any uniform items please call into the office to complete an order form or alternatively email the office with your order. You will be contacted once the order has been filled. Please note that as the uniform pool relies on donations from parents, we do not have a full range of items or sizes. Any families who have uniforms that they no longer need, please consider donating these back to the school, these can be left at the office. Thank you
- Len Mutton and Co are the schools official uniform supplier. They are located in the main street or phone 0248422446 or email lenmutton@bigpond.com
Greetings from the School Counsellor
Important information about how to access School Counselling.
Please feel free to touch base with any questions or concerns relating to the counselling service.
How to make an appointment.
If your child/ren were seen by the school counsellor in previous years and you would like them to receive support in 2025, we require you to complete a new counselling registration form. The link can be found below. New referrals and requests can be made via the same link.
Parent consent for counselling continues to be required for all primary school students and will be sought and provided via email. Where parents are separated, we require the written consent of both parents. Once the referral has been received, I will contact parents on a Wednesday to further discuss the referral and determine whether school counselling can meet your child’s needs or if an external referral may be more appropriate.
Referrals can be submitted here
https://mccg.my.site.com/housing/s/school-referral-form
I am at St. Bede’s on Wednesdays each week of term.
Faith Costigan – Student and Family Counsellor.

Interschools Snowsports Championships
After a hugely successful competition last year, St Bede’s will once again send a team to the ACT/Southern NSW Snowsports Championships in Perisher in July. Students can enter in either skiing or snowboarding across a number of disciplines. If you would like further information, please contact Mrs Tooth at school, or click on the link:
https://www.interschools.com.au/home-nsw-act-qld-sa/act-southern-nsw-champs
An information session will be held at school in the coming weeks, so please keep a look out for details!
- Please be mindful of what containers you send to school with your child. Please do not send ring pull cans (like the lids on small tuna cans etc.) or glass containers as these present a cutting hazard to children. Please open the can at home and place in a plastic container.
- We would ask that soft drinks are not sent to school with your children as we do try to encourage a healthy alternative like water.
- If your child is unwell, please place their absence through the Compass Parent Portal App. There is no need to then notify the office once you have placed it into the Compass app.
- Please keep an eye on ourFaceBook page for the latest happenings around the school. StBede'sFaceBook page
St Bede's is a Nut Free school
St Bede's is a nut free school - This mean that students should not bring anything containing nuts to school, this includes Nutella, Peanut Butter and any other nut butters as we have several students who are highly allergic to these items.
The sharing of any food, lollies or confectionery is not encouraged.
Healthy Lunchbox Nutrition Snippets
At St Bede's canteen is run every 2nd Monday. The running of canteen is dependant on volunteers - we require at least 2 parent volunteers per canteen.
Please see the roster below - if you are able to help please contact Brenda, Trish or the office to have your name added.
If canteen is cancelled your child will need to bring their own lunch, as per a non canteen day.
If you have any questions about what is required to help on canteen please contact Brenda on 0438 275 032 or Trish on 0412 889507 or 02 48422027.
Please note that any parents volunteering for canteen must have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC). WWCC can be applied for through Service NSW (link) applying for a WWCC. Once you have received the clearance please send a copy of the email + your date of birth to the office as the clearances are checked.
