Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we entered the second week of Lent and continue to challenge the students of St. Bede’s to seek out ways to assist those less fortunate then ourselves. It may be the people of Ukraine, the communities of Northern NSW and South East Queensland or people in our own community. The students not only pray for others, but also give thanks for the many good things in their lives as reflected in the words of Australia’s own St. Mary Mackillop – “We have much for which to be thankful”.
I mentioned to students at last Fridays assembly that the school will be implementing a new practice to celebrate student birthdays. From Friday onwards on their birthday students will be allowed to come dressed in casual clothes. If their birthday falls on a weekend or during the holidays they are allowed to choose a day either side of the weekend or holiday. For those who have already celebrated their birthdays this year they may celebrate on the same day in one of the coming months. For example a March 4th birthday can be celebrated on the 4th of April, 4th of May etc. Students must ensure that they have the correct clothes to participate in sport.
Congratulations to all our swimmers who represented the school at the recent swimming carnival in Queanbeyan. A special congratulation to the following swimmers who have progressed through to representing MacKillop at the next level. We wish Ivy and Evie all the best.
In line with the NSW Covid road map this week will be the final week that St Bede’s gives out RATS tests. Families this week will receive 4 test kits, per child, to be taken home via the classroom.
A reminder that all students need to have returned their ICT agreement. Students aren’t allowed to access computers at school until the form has been returned. Please contact your classroom teacher if you need a copy.
Last night we had the Parent teacher touch base meetings. This was to allow teachers to touch base with parents something that Covid has prevented us from doing. If you were unable to attend due to a clash of times or technical difficulties please contact your child’s teacher to make an appointment. Hopefully the next time we meet will be face to face.
Hoping you have a great weekend, we have some dry weather and the West Tigers begin their march toward the 2022 premiership.
