Dear Parents and Carers,
On Monday we participated in a pupil free day and on Friday many of our staff are participating in Protective Industrial Action. We appreciate your understanding about these events and apologise for the inconvenience that this may have caused to your families. We thank you all for making the efforts to make the necessary arrangements to provide care for your children.
What a fabulous day everyone had at the athletics carnival on Friday. Whilst we were unable to have it at the Recreation Ground the children were able to do most of the events throughout the day. Congratulations to Katie Tooth for all her organisation and a very big thank you to the following parents for their assistance on the day: Leona Casanova, Bec Bradley, Heidi Horwood, James Royds, Trina Moller, Corinne Haraldson, Kahla Harton, Kristy Morrison, Simone Horn, Kristy Moyle and Emma Moffitt. Without parent assistance events such as this would just not be possible.
This Wednesday was St Bede’s Feast Day and Mary Help of Christians Feast Day. We celebrated this special day with a Mass on Tuesday for all students from Kinder to Year 6. We are extremely grateful to Fr Mick for celebrating mass and to Mrs Helen Mulholland for her organisation of the mass and the events which followed at school. During mass, I spoke to all the students about St Bede and why our school was named after him. St Bede was a scholar who devoted his entire life to learning, writing and teaching and he is an inspiration for our School Vision- ‘Live… Love… Learn’. To culminate our celebrations, on Thursday the students participated in rotational activities based on the Arts and had a free sausage sizzle.
Next week we will be conducting our Parent Teacher interviews. The interviews are conducted each year prior to Semester One reports going home. The interviews will provide each parent with a thorough understanding of how their child is performing academically. We urge all parents to come along to the interviews which will be conducted at school. The interviews will be for 15 minutes in duration and they are an opportunity for all parents to engage in robust conversations about their children without them present. We will no longer be having comments on the school reports. This is a change from previous reports, as comments have always been included. Most of the CE schools removed comments last year. Any information that would be usually provided in the comments will be provided at the interviews. Each teacher emailed the link to the Google Form for parents to book their time on Tuesday. Please ensure you book a time by this Friday.
In Week Three’s newsletter, Mark Chifley (Assistant Principal), provided information about an online survey to review our Homework Policy. To participate please clink on this link by 5pm this Friday- St Bede's Homework Survey.
From June 1 to July 31, St Bede’s students will be having hats off! Students are not required to wear hats at school when they are outside during this time.
Unfortunately, due to the Protected Industrial Action Day tomorrow, the Walkathon will be on Friday June 3, weather permitting. If you can assist you don’t need a Working with Children Check but you need to return the Declaration Form attached with the permission note to school beforehand.
God Bless and keep safe

During the Mass two of our students in Year 4, Lewis Harton and Meredith Noye made their First Holy Communion. We congratulate them on this special occasion.
On Thursday we will continue our St. Bede’s celebrations with whole school activities and a sausage sizzle for lunch.
On Thursday some of our students attended the Sorry Day ceremony in the park at 2pm. This occasion commences Reconciliation Week. Each class participated in activities that allowed them to focus on this special occasion.
This Sunday in our church we focus on the Ascension which is when Jesus goes to heaven body and soul. This follows 40 days after Easter Sunday. During this time Jesus appeared to many people including the Apostles and His family. The Road to Emmaus and Doubting Thomas are two well known recounts from this time.
