Dear Parents and Carers,
This week we celebrated FR Mick’s jubilee as a priest. He has reached a significant milestone in his life and we were not going to let it slip by despite Fr Mick not wanting a fuss. Following Recess on Tuesday, each class went to the hall and sat in silence. Fr Mick thought he was going over to talk to Year 3 about the eucharist but instead he got a very big surprise and was sung to by all the children. We had patty cakes for everyone to eat and help celebrate with him. Fr Mick will tread very cautiously next time he visits St Bede’s but everyone had a wonderful time marking this very special occasion. We are extremely grateful to Mrs Trish Young who made the yummy cakes and Mrs Mulholland for organising them.
Today we celebrated Father’s Day with a very yummy breakfast of egg and bacon rolls. We held the event in Ryrie Park and we had many fathers, grandfathers and children turn up and enjoy the special treat. We are extremely grateful to our wonderful staff who arrived at school very early, helped set up and cook as well as assisted with supervision with buses and traffic. Thank you to all our wonderful families who donated lots of food items for the breakfast. We had ample eggs and Mr Chifley did extra shopping last night so we had plenty of bacon and juice.
Mrs Beck Thistleton has purchased some very special gifts for the Father’s Day stall which will be happening today. Each child will be given a gift for their dad or special friend. Thank you to Beck for her organisation of the gifts and stall. How spoilt are our dad’s.
Last night the Community Council met and discussed many items especially parent events. On Wednesday October 12 we will be conducting an Open Community Council meeting at the Club from 6pm to 7pm before our formal meeting commences. Invitations will be sent home to each family soon. We are looking forward to having more events next term so please read the newsletter to keep informed of school happenings.
Next week, I will be attending a Principal Conference in Melbourne, the school will be in the very capable hands of Mr Chifley.
Have a great week.
God Bless
