Dear Parents and Carers,
The children and staff are excited about the disco this Friday evening! We congratulate our Year 6 students who have done an amazing job organising the disco to ensure that everyone has a fantastic time. They have organised the games, lighting, music and decorations. We thank our Year 5 and 6 parents who are assisting on the night with catering and our wonderful staff for assisting with supervision on the evening. A special thank you to Jennie Marsh and Mark Chifley for all their work behind the scenes liaising with the Year 5 and 6 parent helpers and assisting the Year 6 students with the organisation.
Our Kinder 2023 students have been having a wonderful time at the Kinder Orientation days. Congratulations to Ms. Cooper and the classroom support assistants. The children are very settled! A special thank you to our amazing Year 5 students who are such wonderful buddies! They are a credit to their families and the school! All our 2023 Kinders are invited to attend the disco and we look forward to hopefully seeing them all there on Friday evening.
Next Tuesday is our final Kinder Orientation session. The 2023 Kinder parents are all invited to an information session and morning tea commencing at 9:30 am in the hall. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with new and existing parents. We thank the St Bede’s Community Council for providing the morning tea for this event.
Congratulations to Evie Clark who was runnerup in the Year 5 division of the Archdiocesean Public Speaking competition! Well done Evie we are very proud of you! The topic for her speech was 'Why I should be Prime Minister'.
This Friday is Day for Daniel. Teachers will be focusing in class on how children can keep themselves safe and how to respond to unsafe situations. This is also an opportunity for all our parents to discuss keeping safe when the children are out in the community. We would like to see all students wearing something red in honor of this day.
Next Thursday we have two significant events happening at St Bede’s. We have Grandparents and Special Friends Day commencing at 10:15am in the hall. Helen Mulholland is sending information about Grandparents and Special Friends Day home with all families today. This will be followed later in the day with our family Meet and Greet night at the Club at 5:30pm. Mark Chifley sent information home about Meet and Greet night earlier this week and we are asking parents for assistance with catering and cooking on the night. We thank Mark and Helen for their organisation. What wonderful opportunities for parents and grandparents to join in and have some fun connecting with the staff, children and families.
Next Tuesday is Melbourne Cup Day. At St Bede’s we traditionally host the esteemed Snail Cup! During the day, students participate in snail races in anticipation that they can take out the St Bede’s Snail Cup. St Bede’s children are all encouraged to start searching for their special snails in preparation for this BIG event! We look forward to seeing who the winner is on the day!
Tomorrow is World Teachers Day! We thank all our St Bede's teachers who work tirelessly to support our students and familes at our wonderful school! We look forward to doing something special to thank our teachers tomorrow!
Have a great week.
God Bless
RE report for Week 3 newsletter
Years 5 and Year 6 have commenced the Confirmation program which will culminate with the Sacrament of Confirmation. This sacrament is for Catholic students, and will take place on Saturday 19th October at the 6pm parish mass in Braidwood. All other students and families are very welcome to join us on this day.
October is the month of the Rosary. As a staff and in classrooms we have been saying the Rosary. The Rosary is a series of prayers but mainly the Hail Mary. Maybe you can say a decade of the Rosary at home or three Hail Marys is also powerful. At our staff professional development on Tuesday evening we had the privilege of being in our church and we discovered that Mary is prominent in the church in the form of statues and images in the stained glass windows.
As we move into November we acknowledge All Saints Day on November 1 and All Souls Day on November 2. This is a special time as we remember the saints who have gone before us and our loved ones who have died. May God carry them gently in the palm of his hand.
A Message from Len Mutton & Co
Mutton's are currently taking orders for 2023 uniforms.
If you require uniforms for next year please order with Muttons before 30 November to be assured of supply.
Touch and Netball Gala Day
As the Boorowa Touch and Netball Day had to be cancelled last week, we will instead be holding our own gala day next Friday 4 November (Week 4). All students (K-6) will participate in round robin games in both touch and netball across the day.
Parents are most welcome to attend – we would love to see you back at school and enjoying the day with your children! A sausage sizzle will be held on the day in place of canteen - with more details to follow. If any parents can assist with cooking/serving the BBQ that would be most appreciated, please let me know if you are able to help. At lunch time we will also be holding a Year 6 vs Teachers/Parents Netball game, so if you are keen pack your sneakers and join in the fun!
