Dear Parents and Carers,
Tonight, we look forward to seeing our parents and families at the Meet and Greet Barbeque at the Club. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to meet the class teacher and other staff if they haven’t already and to mix socially as a community. Thank you to Mark Chifley for his organisation.
This Friday, the Interim reports will be sent home to parents for each student. The interim reports provide parents with insights into students work habits, attitudes towards learning, relationships and behaviour. Formal parent/teacher interviews will be held at the end of term 1. Further details about how to book your time will be sent out in the next few weeks. If you need to talk to your child’s teacher before then please email them to make an appointment.
‘Catholic Education Canberra-Goulburn (CECG) has communicated to schools regarding reporting to parents/guardians. CE has advised schools that general comments will not be required on Semester 1, 2023 reports, but to prioritise Parent/Teacher Conferences for every family. These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, their strengths, challenges and future areas of focus. A Semester Report will still be sent home as in previous Semesters providing A-E grading and attendance information. CE has advised schools that Semester 2, 2023 reports will require a general comment for all children. This general comment will provide a summative comment for the year, areas of achievement and areas to focus on for the following year. A-E grading and attendance information will remain as normal.
We would encourage all parents/guardians to engage regularly with their child/ren’slearning, connecting with their class teacher/s regularly to discuss learning progress.’
Earlier this term, a note was sent home with each child about a parent representative for each Year level. A class representative is the contact person for each class. This role is not huge but of vital importance for each class. They parent contact may organise a social event outside of school each term e.g., a coffee morning, dinner at the Club or support for a student or a family member who is unwell, organising parents to provide meals in times of need etc. If you wish your child to participate, please return your note to school with your contact information by tomorrow, Friday March 3.
We thank the following parents who have volunteered to be Class Representatives:
Kinder: Rachel Farley
Year 1: Kahla Harton
Year 2: Nicole Vardanega
Year 3: Jen Collier
Year 4: Leila Picken
Year 5: Beth Ross
Year 6: Volunteer please
Each Friday at 2:50pm we have an assembly where the children receive their weekly awards and birthdays are celebrated. This is a change of time from last year due to structured programs occurring in classes in Literacy each morning. Parents/carers and grandparents are most welcome to attend the assemblies.
Next week is Sabbath Week. This is a wonderful opportunity for each family to have a break from homework and use the time for the children to play outside and do family activities. At this stage of the term, it is always a welcome break for the children and parents.
Tomorrow will be my last day at St Bede’s until term 3. I am very confident you will be in safe hands under the leadership of Mr Mark Chifley who will be Acting Principal in my absence. I am looking forward to the break from school routines to spend time with family and friends.
God Bless
Marylou Gorham
