Dear Parents and Carers,
Tomorrow we celebrate the feast day of St. Patrick. Students are encouraged to wear a touch of green tomorrow to celebrate St Patrick's Day. Around 30 percent of Australians are believed to have Irish ancestry. St Patrick was a man who, very early in life, was made aware of his strengths and weaknesses. He was empathic, persuasive, and had a strong vision of what he wanted to achieve. Let us strive to emulate the virtues of St Patrick.
This week we welcomed Mrs. Louise Grant as acting Assistant Principal. Louise has held leadership roles across the Arch-dioceses and in schools overseas. She has already settled in well with the school community. She will be working with Mrs. Katie Tooth in Year 6 as well as Assistant Principal.
Ms. McPake continues to be unwell and we ask that you keep her in your prayers and thoughts and we look forward to her return.
Years 3 and 5 have started NAPLAN this week and have one test left on Friday. Any student who was absent on the day of their test will have an opportunity to catch up next week. A big thank you to Ms. Crispin, Mrs Welfare and the CSA’s who have prepared and supported the students this week and the weeks leading up to NAPLAN.
Yesterday the school was visited by Hon. Kristie McBain who dropped off new national flags to the school. This is a follow up to a request from the year 6 2022 for 2 new flag poles to display all three flags. We look forward to seeing her again when the Year 5 and 6 students visit Parliament House.
Yesterday classroom teachers undertook Parent Teacher phone calls with each family. We hope that making a phone call makes it easier and more accessible for parents. If you were unable to be contacted please contact your child's classroom teacher or the front office to arrange for a meeting.
We wish all our performers the best who are singing and playing at the Majors Creek Festival this Saturday. They have been practising very hard and sound fantastic.
Good luck to the Mighty West Tigers this weekend.
As always if you have any concerns please contact the school office.
Kind regards
Mark ChifleySt Patricks Day Prayer
As we reflect upon the prayer of Saint Patrick this St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, we see that these very powerful and beautiful uplifting words, represent a total transformation of the self with complete trust and faith in the Divine, God our Creator.
This prayer is known widely as “Morning Prayer,” or “St. Patrick’s Breastplate,” It’s not known whether St. Patrick is actually the author or whether someone else wrote it years later and it was attributed to St. Patrick. But it is widely associated with him and his ministry.
I arise today
Through the strength of heaven;
Light of the sun,
Splendor of fire,
Speed of lightning,
Swiftness of the wind,
Depth of the sea,
Stability of the earth,
Firmness of the rock.
I arise today
Through God’s strength to pilot me;
God’s might to uphold me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s eye to look before me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak for me,
God’s hand to guard me,
God’s way to lie before me,
God’s shield to protect me,
God’s hosts to save me
Afar and anear,
Alone or in a multitude.
Christ shield me today
Against wounding
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,
Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in the eye that sees me,
Christ in the ear that hears me.
I arise today
Through the mighty strength
Of the Lord of creation.
Our School Counsellor, Sharman is currently on leave until the end of term. We will have Mari with us for the next 2 weeks. Mari will be visiting St Bede's on Fridays. If you think your child would benefit from seeing Mari please complete the online referral form at https://catholiccare.force.com/housing/s/school-referral-form.
Next Friday 24 March, students are asked to bring coins for a coin line - this will be a competition between houses and as a lead into the cross country carnvial. We hoping the line will stretch from the assembly area to library and beyond and break the school record.
All coins will be donated to Project Compassion.

- If your child is late arriving to school - (after 9:10 when the rolls are marked) - a parent needs to sign their child in at the office. Parents who are not signing late children in will recieve an unexplained absence note.
- Any change to your childs normal departure arrangments need to be notified to the office by either email (preferred) or phone before 2:30 pm. After this time it becomes increasingly difficult to ensure that your child receives a notification. If there is any doubt as to how a child is getting home your child will be kept at school and a parent will be called to collect.
- Families who paid their school fees by instalments last year are asked to review the amount they are paying to ensure that this years fees are covered.
For canteen to run at St Bede's we need at least two parent helpers for each week on the roster. If we do not have two volunteers then we are unable to have canteen and it will be cancelled for that week. Please refer to the below roster.
If canteen is cancelled then your child will need to bring their own lunch, as per a non canteen day. Please note that if canteen is cancelled and your child has an order, parents/carers will be contacted to provide lunch.
Any parents that are interested in helping in canteen and have a couple of hours available on a Monday morning (Please see the roster for coming dates) please email the office.
If you have any questions about what is required to help on canteen please contact Brenda on 0438 275 032 or Trish on 0412 889507 or 02 48422027.
Please note that any parents volunteering for canteen must have a current Working With Children Check (WWCC). WWCC can be applied for through Service NSW (link) applying for a WWCC. Once you have recieved the clearance please send a copy of the email + your date of birth to the office as the clearances are checked.
